distant siren...
a blue-green wave
sluices through stones

gust of wind --
a fallen cherry branch
splits the stream

the old baseball field --
a cluster of wild iris
at home plate

ripe avocados --
I carve the moon's phases
with a penknife

a stroll in the sand --
our pails brimming with
moonlight and fish
