forsythia buds
it arrives regardless
this spring

ropes slap the asphalt
double-dutch in the alley

snow covered meadow
filigree shadows
in the woods

the rifle's bolt
lock and load

on the trail
cleaning out bird boxes
a last year's egg

after the move
remembering what I forgot

spring twilight
bats zigzag
through the forest

sudden chill
shortcutting our walk
