Tanka
by Grant Savage
the swans made
love
their image on the surface
and beneath the water
broken by passion
and the spring breezes
From Ruby Spriggs in Memoriam: Poetry in the Light
light through
the wings
of a tiger-swallowtail
our time together flew
but your memory still
in bright light and deep shadow
in a sunny
meadow
thinking on your passing
the butterflies
on the flowers
cast beautiful shadows
at a fruit
stall
comparing apples
and oranges
in love with two women
unable to decide
baby cardinal
a year or two and you'll sing
how much longer will it take
for this tanka poet
to find his voice
