Haiku by Elizabeth Howard

record heat
blue dragon flies dip
into the boat's wake morning bells
  in the smallest child’s cup
  a halo
autumn prairie
tips of elk antlers
above the rudbeckia tracing an old deed
of back lanes and cross fences
  the spider’s orb broken
school bus stop
a glitzy kaleidoscope
of umbrellas

Elizabeth Howard lives in Crossville, Tennessee.
