Simply Haiku: An
E-Journal of Haiku and Related Forms Submission Guidelines Thank you for your interest in publishing your work in Simply Haiku. We publish all forms of haiku poetry, haibun, and haiku-related artwork, e.g., traditional forms of haiga as well as new forms such as photo-haiku and digital art-haiku. In addition we publish essays and articles relating to haiku poetry and associated genres. Response Time: We will respond to submissions within two weeks. If you do not receive a decision, please feel free to send a note of inquiry. There is currently no payment for submissions beyond publication. Previous Publications: Simply Haiku does not consider submissions of previously published works unless invited. However, we do not consider postings on Internet forums, personal web sites and the like as publications. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, so long as you tell us that the works are under consideration elsewhere and let us know immediately if and when they are accepted elsewhere. Upon Simply Haiku's notification of acceptance of simultaneously submitted work, you must immediately withdraw that work from consideration elsewhere. Once published in Simply Haiku, you are free to seek republication elsewhere. Poetry Submissions: We only accept email submissions. Poetry should be pasted as plain text (no HTML) into the body of the message only; please do not send attachments. Submit up to ten poems (haiku and tanka) to give us more to choose from; fewer are acceptable for all longer forms. Normally, one haibun is submitted. Works are accepted in all languages as long as they are accompanied by an English translation. Art Submissions: All haiku-related art forms [e.g., ink drawing, brush painting, woodblock printing, photo, digital, modern art] will be considered. Artwork must be your own unless you have a collaboration in which case your partner[s] must also be named and must have also given his/her/their permission to publish in Simply Haiku. When submitting images please use jpeg or other well known image file formats. The preferred file dimensions are: width=600 pixels or less, height=600 pixels or less, ppi = 72. Do NOT optimize your images. We will do that and we will resize them as necessary to create an appealing visual display. Contractual
