Tony Beyer

my $10 haircut
lasting me through
a funeral
a prizegiving
a job interview

hot classroom
a trapped fly
and the teacher
buzzing
iambic pentameter

very little wind
crinkles the
ocean surface
into milk
just before it boils

paper wasp 9(4), Spring 2003

FOLLOW THE ARROWS
IF YOU DARE
pink chalk
dinosaur footprints
coming this way

back after a day
away with a cold
and the boy
slumped in his wheelchair
asks how I am
