J.D. Heskin: Haiku

three o'clock--
fencepost shadows lean
on fencepost shadows watermelon:
  winter appetites
  need not apply
old barn
where once noisy roosters crowed,
silent swallows bus stop:
  where people gather and talk
  on cell phones
editor wants at least ten
will this one do?

J.D. Heskin tells us that he lives in frozen Minnesota where with stiffened fingers, he writes haiku and conventional poetry.

He has been published in a wide variety of magazines and e-zines. Some of his haiku can be found in Wasp, Acorn, Frogpond, Asahi Haiku, Mainichi Interactive, Famous Reporter, Paper Wasp,Haiku Spirit and bottle rockets.
