HAIKU

Ellen Compton

     alone on a ferry pier
in the milky way
              sea wind

  early awake . . .
a spider has sealed
the outhouse

four a.m.
    the libido
of lightning bugs

  call of the rain crow
   still
      this heat

    a glimpse of the hollow
from the rope swing
            summer chill
