Mary Davila started writing poetry at the age of 50. In 2006, she was introduced to haiga, and it has become her main focus. Mary is moderator for the "Haiga Showcase" forum on Jane Reichhold's online AHApoetry Forums. Mary's haiga have been published online at Simply Haiku, Haigaonline, Sketchbook, Modern Haiga and World Haiku Association. She has also been published in print in moonset.
Mary and her husband enjoy being members of a Creative Expression writers group. One of her poems was published, along with one of her husband's, in Community And Difference: Teaching, Pluralism, And Social Justice, by Roberto A. Pena.
In addition to poetry and haiga, Mary enjoys photography, enhancing her photos and taking online courses. She currently is in the process of creating her own website.
In 2006, after a career of over thirty years, Mary retired from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. She lives in western New York with her husband, Frank. They enjoy taking frequent trips to California to visit their son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons.
