Joyce S. Greene
between skyscrapers
an aerialist dances
in midair
knowing what is meant to be
she falls into his arms
white daisy petals
he loves me, he loves me not
one by one they fall
yesterday I trusted him
this morning, she called again
I saw the mailman
as my soldier's courier
bringing me his love–
my husband was unfaithful
and the news came in the mail
Joyce S. Greene lives in New York State with her husband. She studied English literature in college but has made her living in the world of numbers; an accountant/bookkeeper by day but a poet by night. Joyce started writing early last year when her son told her about an on-line poetry forum he had
joined. Since then she has become addicted to writing, and particularly tanka. She is not a wordy
person so it seems to suit her style.
